Healthy eating is included in a partial formula dietThe Oak Brook Health and Nutrition Partial Formula Program uses a combination of OPTIFAST formula and traditional foods. This combination is useful if your current health conditions require a slower rate of weight loss, if your weight loss goals are moderate, or if you travel extensively on business and thus would find it difficult to adhere to a full formula program. Patients following a partial formula plan use 2-4 meal replacement products each day and enjoy 1-2 nutritious, low calorie meal(s). The duration of the plan and extent of meal replacement formula use will depend on your needs and goals.

Patients with children often report that the partial formula meal plan works best for them as they can more easily fit it into their normal evening meal routine. For these patients, the partial formula diet has the added benefit of allowing them to gradually incorporate the nutrition and meal planning skills they are learning at Oak Brook Health and Nutrition into their family's diet. The healthy lifestyle behaviors and attitudes toward healthy eating that you introduce to your family will benefit their health for years to come.

If medically appropriate, Dr. Auriemma may also prescribe FDA approved medications as part of your weight loss plan.

What to expect from the Partial Formula Diet

Your partial formula diet will be created for you by Aileen Waldschmidt, a registered dietitian, based on your specific goals and physical needs. For this reason, your program may shorter or longer than a typical 18-week program.

When following a partial formula diet, you can expect to lose 1-2 pounds per week. The actual rate of loss varies between individuals but in a typical 18 week program weight loss should be around 25lbs.
